Re: ADAM LAUER born 1847; PETER LAUER born 1849

I was just told today that my grandfather's last name was changed but I have not been looking for it spelled Lauer but Layer. He was Peter Layer and he lived Cincinatti and he was married to Teresa Kiefer. They were both born around 1848. Ship records show they came over around 1903 and they brought Anna Elizabeth and Charles. Anna was 16 and Charles was 11. Anna was my grandmother. What else do you have on the Lauer/Layers. You know if a person was careless with the U it would be a y. We probably have a connection here. I just talked to a man today that is a Layer and he has lived in the same place for 60 years.
