Hi I am so excited because I believe the Peter Lauer you are writing about is my great grandfather Peter Layer in Cincinnati, Ohio.
I saw some answers to your inquirey and another that led
me to your inquiry and it looks like the Peter you were writing of here probaly was the one who lived there and that would be him. He was born about 1848 and his children lived there in the Hamilton, Ohio area. If so his daughter was my grandmother. I would love to read that letter and if you can-please email a copy to me or if you email me I will send you a sase envelope for snail mail. I love to see a bit of family history such as that. It has taken us so long to find out what little we know.
I might be able to tell something just by reading it. We
