Re: Susannah/Isabella Lawcock, born England, to NY
The only Emma I have who is a wife to a Lawcock married James E. Lawcock, born ca 1856 in England, son of Joseph Lawcock and Rebecca. The Joseph Lawcock family immigrated in 1867 to NY, then moved to Michigan circa 1878.Emma was born circa 1859 in NY.In the 1880 Census, James and Emma are married, no kids, and in Michigan.I hadn't tracked their censuses further.
Joseph Lawcock was the brother of my ancestor Susanna Lawcock Hartley.Susanna died rather young (in her 40s).Her husband was Thomas Hartley, who lived right next door to some Atwaters (cannot read the name in 1875 census), in Somerset.Thomas Hartley lived on Lower Lake Road, right across from where the access road currently is for the lighthouse. The house still stands (or at least did last summer).
Some of Thomas and Susanna's children were William, Emily, Rose, and George, so those may be some of the Hartley names you found.
I can't look much more into things at the moment, but I willwrite back with more details. The other people who have written in to the Lawcock genforum are probably all descendants of various Michigan Lawcocks. All the Lawcock boys ended up in Michigan by 1880, I believe...
