Re: Buxton Lawn
Hi Wayne & Shelley,
My great-great (2 or 3-I'm not sure how many) grandfather was Luke Ward Conerly. My mother, Barbara Ann Harr (maiden name) was born in Tupelo MS in 1929.I was born in Okolona in 1952.My mother was raised by her grandmother, who's name escapes me at this late hour.I'll have to give Mom a call tomorrow. For years, we had the book "The History of Pike County".However, it's been lost over the years.I almost stopped in Jackson last year, when we were traveling through to head up to northern NY and visit my wife's family and our daughter & grandbaby.I wanted to track down a copy of the book.My great grandmother died in October of 1972.I recall, as I had just returned from VietNam at the time.Interestly enough, I noted your look for information on Buxton Lawn and remembered Luke's comments in his book.
One more side note. There's quite a stir going on about the supposed "affair" and/or marriage of George III and Hannah Lightfoot, which I believe is noted in Luke's book.If you do some websearch on Hannah, you will find it's even hit the news as recently as last month....in England.
Nice to hear from some distant relatives. My wife and I reside in Odessa Texas, where I am the internet manager for Cable One.Wayne, as you live in Gulfport, you are probably aware of Cable One.It's one of our systems.
Robert Jordan (stepfather's name) real father was: Robert Montford (from NY).
