Hi Trish, I have found your Grand mothers Marriage Registration details. She & Frederick George Sorbie were married in Newcastle June qtr. 1909. Margarets father is David Ladzari/Lazzari b.1848 & her mother is Sarah Symington b.1858, both in Newcastle. I will look for Margarets birth details for you as I have not found them yet.
David & Sarah married in Houghton le Spring on the 27th Feb. 1875 & they lied about their ages, he says he is 23 but really he was 27, & she says she is 19 when she was only 17. They may have eloped if the families were against the marriage especially as Davids family were Catholic. So far I have found 6 children including your g.grandmother.
Davids father is Joseph Ladzari b. 1817, Newcastle & his mother was Mary Ann Donnelly. David was brother to my g.g.grandmother Alice, so we are related!! & we are related to Sally Lazzari who also writes to this Forum. I have also written to a Mr. Lidgate who advetised in the 'North-easterner' magazine as his grandmother was another of David
& Sarahs children, Ann Symington Ladzari.
Josephs father was Paul Anthony Ladzari & he married Sarah Matley in Manchester Cathedral in 1800. When he came to Newcastle he had a Plaster of Paris business on High Bridge, Newcastle making the fancy plaster roses & covings & ect. for walls & ceilings. I do not think he did the ones in Wallington Hall as they were done in 1750, according to the guide book.
Write to me by email [email protected] & send me your address & I will send you the family tree so far & loads of photocopies of certificates & ect.
Best regards,Kathy
