Hey David,
I also have a Leahy link from the townland of Capragh which is in the Ballymachugh parish. I wonder if we have any connections? Drop me a email so we can share info.
Colin Ferguson wrote this on rootsweb awhile back about the Cavan Lahy's: The Lahey family traces its origin back to Normandy in the twelfth century. By the sixteenth century Lahey ancestors lived at La Hayeville in Lorraine. According to family tradition, one of them, Jean La Haye
was killed in 1564 in the Huguenot unrest which culminated in the St Bartholomew's Day massacre of 24 August 1572; Jean La Haye's father, Francis (Francois) migrated with his remaining family of eleven children to County Cavan, north-west of Dublin. Colonel La Haye, a Lahey ancestor
fought with Cromwell in 1649 to quell Irish resistance. To this day, Laheys survive in County Cavan and elsewhere in the region.
The above is from "Songs of colour - The art of Vida Lahey", by Bettina MacAulay, Queensland Art Gallery, 1989, p.12
Cheers.
