Re: Larkin S. LEATHERS
It actually complicates it. Larkin Smith Leathers was the son of James Leathers and Nancy Guest. Both Larkins were born within months of each other. Larkin Smith was born in Washington Co. and Larkin in Mercer Co. James and Nancy had a son William A. Leathers born in 1821 and we thinkWilliam Franklin also born in abt 1821 was the other Larkin's brother. William Franklin Leathers lived to the 1880 census and he gives his father's birthplace as VA which probably makes him John and Eleanor Lampton's son. There maybe a brother of John's we haven't identified but the tax records pretty much rule that out. When the James Leathers paid taxes in Mercer Co. neither Nicholas Jr.s son James nor John's son James M. are accounted for. Meaning the Mercer Co. James was probably one of them. I've searched the 1820 and 1830 censuses trying to find a Larkin that might have been involved with the family. So far no luck.
