Paul A. Lemanski
TECUMSEH — Paul A. Lemanski of Tecumseh died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, at Herrick Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Paul was born Oct. 18, 1929, in Bronson, Mich., the ninth child of Paul and Anastasia (Lawniczak) Lemanski. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Benedict, Stanley, Joseph and Albert. Sally, Mary and Anthony (Sylvia) Lemanski and Anna (Harold) Sosinski survive.
On June 13, 1953, Paul married Ann Patricia Peacock in Battle Creek. Ann and six of their seven children survive: Mary (Steve) Pike of Tecumseh, Jean (Scott) Frank of Shaker Heights, Ohio, Paul (Geralyn) Lemanski of Ypsilanti, Diane (Rick) Blackmar of Holland Mich., Rita Harris of Gainesville Fla., and Sally (Keith) Menne of Grand Ledge, Mich. Daughter Barbara (Mike) Robson of Howell preceded her father in death.
Paul was the devoted grandfather of 18 grandchildren, Joe, Austin, Helen, Mitch, Anastasia, Peter, Tim, Jeff, Mark, Matthew, Danielle, Rita, Adam, Clayton, Sam, Paul, Hanna and Luke; and one great-grandchild, Dominic.
Paul served in the U.S. Navy as an Airman from 1948 to 1949. He worked as a Freight Agent for the New York Central Railroad and as a Traffic Manager for Martin-Marietta in Adrian. He retired in 1991 from Ann Arbor Public Schools where he was a Warehouse Manager for 17 years.
Paul had been an active member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church since 1956, where he was an Usher and worked on the Funeral Committee. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Friends of the VFW. He also volunteered for the Meals on Wheels Organization.
Visitation will be at St. Elizabeth Church on Sunday, Jan. 13, from 2 to 8 p.m. with recitation of the rosary beginning at 8 p.m. Visitation will also occur from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 14. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Jan. 14, at St. Elizabeth Church at 11 a.m.
