German branch
Okay...
I think I got some answers for you - truth is I don't know a lot, but my grandpa Franz does. Well, to be honest, there are many things I only remember in fragments, and I don't really want to say anything I later regret. So write me and I can check back with him.
First, I am German citizen and I happen to be student in the United States. The branch of "my" Lenczyk family lives still largely in Germany (my uncle Norbert has a web page www.lenczyk.de). My grandpa's father immigrated to Germany from one of the former (pre WWII) eastern states of the German Reich, and presumably from further east. As far as I can remember the reason was that the rather big farm estate of the Lenczyk familywas only given to the firstborn son. The other sons basically had to go and find their luck somewhere else, which is a good reason for emmigrating from home I guess. I am quite fuzzy on the details, I know we have polish and russian "connections" so to speak.... anyway. Just write.
