John Lenoir's will in Barbados recorded in SC
The below information was posted by Stephen Gates but I've not been able to contact him.
Does anyone have an actual copy of this will by John Lenoir? What was his wife's name when he died? Was it a second marriage, if you know? If you have the will, could you possibly scan it and post it to this site? I would be so grateful.
Does anyone know of an earlier son of John Lenoir named Robert Lenoir? Or is Robert Lenoir the unborn child mentioned in the will? In 1717, Martha Lenoir, wife of John Lenoir of Barbados had no children when she docked the entail on her land and slaves in St. Michael, Barbados.
"The will made by John Lenoir in Barbados in 1727 was registered in Charleston, SC on 1/23/1728 by Jacob Motte, Registrar. The will provides for the education of his unborn child. Attached are a copy of his wife's appointment as executor and a copy of a 1725 deed by which John Lenoir bought 710 acres on the Wando River at Wando Neck known as Lynch Grove Plantation from Giles Cooke of Barbados. This land adjoined John Hollybush, John Brown, John Burke and William White. The deed was witnessed in Barbados by Joseph Cobb and Robert Lydon."
