Sheila,
Nothing definitive. However, in the course of researching my own Leslies (of parish Artrea, Co. Derry), I ran across some Leslies from Tyrone, which may be the family you're looking for. From the civil marriage records:
Robert Leslie of Leck (Co. Tyrone), farmer, born abt 1829, married Nancy Johnson of Curglassan (Co. Tyrone), on 10 July 1846 at the Presbyterian Church at Ballygorey, parish Ardboe, Co. Tyrone.
I believe that Robert was the son of James Leslie and Elizabeth Starrett. However, I can't remember where I got that information.Robert was about the right age to have been a brother of your William David.William David was 14 around the time of the Famine, so it's reasonable that he would have tried to leave the country then.Hope this helps.
