My grandfather was Zebediah Harrison Le Van, b. 1865 d. 1945.He had five sons:
Nolan Guinn Le Van b.1891 d. 1960 -- my father
James Ralph Le Van b. 1893 d. 1957 -- no children
George William Le Van b. about 1897 d. 1965 no children
Harry Le Van b. 1900 died about 1963 - one child, Jane Le Van Jones
Herschel B. Le Van b. about 1902 d. about 1962.
To my knowledge, all sons were born in Pelham, TN in Franklin County, TN, near Grundy County.
I was told my grandfather restored the capital "V" in the name, but don't know whether his sons' birth records reflect that change.I was also told that the original immigrant Le Vans were three brothers who were Hugenots who left France for the Netherlands, where they sailed for America. Several years ago a Hugenot geneologist sent me information that four brothers sailed in 1699, one died at sea, and the survivors settled around Philadelphia. That's the extent of my Le Van information, except for the former general counsel of Union Carbide, and the former CEO of ConRail.Would appreciate more.
