Carl was born, 2 Jan 1884, son of Christian F. and Hannah (Lang) Leverenz.Christian was a native of Grimm, Pomern, Germany, and came to the US in 1874 equipped with the knowledge of the trades of leather worker, saddler, and upholsterer.At Litchfield, MN, he married Hannah Lang, born at Dundee, IL, daughter of John Lang.She went to MN as a child.Chris and Hannah were residents of St. Paul since 1881.Their children: Carl C., Walter and Mary (St. Paul); Henry (Brockton, MT); Elsie (St. Paul); Lulu (Mrs. Owen Watkins, died at Peoria, IL, Feb 1920).
Carl graduated from Humboldt High School in St. Paul, MN, then went to work as an office boy for Noyes Brothers & Cutler.He acquired bank training with the Merchants National Bank of St. Paul and stayed with them for eight years.He resigned as teller of that bank and moved to the First National Bank of Ada, MN, for one year before coming to Culbertson, MT, 10 Jun 1916, to work as cashier at theCitizens State Bank.
On 30 Oct 1908, St. Paul, MN, Carl married Miss Bertha Kisch, daughter of Michael and Teresa Kisch, natives of Germany.Her father, Michael, became a wool inspector with Bergman Company of St. Paul.
