Lies - Echternach, Grevenmacher, Luxembourg
Hopefully someone else is trying to piece together the Lies family from Luxembourg. This is what I know...
Frank Lies b. abt 1801 Beidwiler, Grevenmacher, Grevenmacher, Luxembourg; d. about 1860.
Maria Lehnen b. about 1803 Hersberg, Echternach, Luxembourg; d. 27 Nov 1859 Hersberg, Echternach, Grevenmacher, Luxembourg
They married about 1829.
Two sons, Peter and John came to U.S. around 1868 and settled in Stearns County. From there they went to Elizabeth, MN in Otter Tail County.Eventually Peter made his way to Wells County, ND.I am directly descended from Peter Lies and Anna Maria "Katherine" Schiltz.
Peter was b. 17 Sep 1841and married 03 Mar 1864 in Echternach, Echternach, Grevenmacher, Luxembourg to Anna Maria "Katherine" Schiltz, b. 18 May 1840.She died 22 Aug 1869 in Wakefield, Stearns Co., MN.
Peter then married Frances Lill on 21 Sep 1870 in Jacob's Prairie, Stearns Co., MN.She was born Jan 1852 in Bohemia and d. 17 Dec 1877 in Elizabeth.
Peter married Catherine Lange about 1880.She was b. 06 Aug 1861 in Germany and d. 16 Mar 1928 in Wells County.Peter d. 04 Dec 1905 in Eddy County.
I believe Peter had siblings as follows but we never knew anything about any of them except John.
Nicolas b. 30 Mar 1830 Hersberg
Elisabeth b. 05 May 1831 Hersberg
John b. 09 Aug 1834 Hersberg
Michael b. 06 Mar 1837 Hersberg
Catherine b. 12 Aug 1838 Hersberg
Margaret b. 12 Nov 1840 Hersberg
John b. 19 Sep 1843 Hersberg
I believe some of Katherine Schiltz' siblings came to the U.S. and settled in Kansas and maybe some of Peter's siblings as well. There is a notation in some of the family items that two of Peter's sons with Katherine, Michael and Frank, went to Kansas to work for their uncles for 3 years probably around 1890.The other child of Peter and Katherine Schiltz was Susanna who married Peter Spilman and lived in MN and ND.
The Lills remained near Elizabeth, MN, the Langes and the Lies' settled in Wells and Eddy Counties in North Dakota. Most of Peter's children lived in those counties as well, but have spread out across the country in subsequent generations.
Any information, even the littlest item, would be appreciated.Thank you.
