John Lindenberger, planemaker of Providence 1754-1
My husband and I have done extensive research on John Lindenberger of Baltimore-Johnston-Providence (1754 - 1817); we are doing research on early American tools, and he made wooden planes. We have written up our findings in a journal called Plane Talk (Fall 1989) and will be happy to send someone a copy of it.If you would like to post it on your web site, that would be fine.
We still have a few unanswered questions and wonder if anyone can help:
1. What caused him to move from Philadelphia to Rhode Island after his military service?
2. Where and how did he meet Dorcas Sprague?
3. Whom did he apprentice to/work for in Philadelphia or Baltimore?
We have a bit of additional information found after the ar ticle was published and will be following up on that shortly.
