Bill,
So glad to hear from you. First you must understand that I am not related to this family but am doing the lineage of a very dear friend. I found myself in a wheelchair about 2 years ago and had to give up a job that I loved. My second love was genealogy which I had been doing in my spare time for over 25 years.I now do genealogies for my friends and nieghbors. No charge . I just love to do it and it keeps me busy. Enough about that. Now the Lindsey family.
I have only been able to go back as far as Dennis Lindsey b 1710 in Spotsylvania Co. VA and died Aug 1762 in Granville, North Carolina. I don't know his wive's name but he was the father of 7 children. William, Catherine, Elizabeth, Margaret,Benjamin, Mary and Winifred.
Her line then goes from William b 1737 in VA and died 1796 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Don't know his wife either but had 3 children William, Dennis and John. Continuing down William b 1746 (I know the numbers don't make any sense) died unknown. Married Rachel Earnest b 1749 in Spatenburg and no death date. One son that I know of Dennis b unknown and died before 12 Jan 1795. Married Mary Allen ?
Their son mark Thomas Lindsey you know about.
Notes that I found for Dennis who was b 1710
I first find Dennis Lindsey in Spotsylvania Co., VA, records in 1728. By 1734/5, he shows up in Brunswick Co., VA, briefly, and thereafter was in Edgecombe, later Granville, Co., NC, until he died in Aug. 1762. He left a son William whohad a son Dennis. That Dennis had a son
Mark, who in turn had another son Dennis.
Notes for Dennis father of Mark
Dennis Lindsey, was a Revolutionary soldier who died in Spartanburg Co., SC, bef. 12 Jan. 1795. Mark appears with Dennis's widow Mary as a buyer at Dennis's estate sale in Spartanburg Co. When Mark moved from Spartanburg Co., SC, to Wayne Co., KY, in 1800, he settled on land patented to George Bruton, who had administered Dennis Lindsey's estate and to whom Dennis had made a deed of half of his land in 1792. Note, too, that Mark named his oldest son Dennis.
I would really like your remarks on what I have found. True, false or unknown? I wish I had been working on this a little longer but just started a couple months ago.
Tina's line goes then from Mark through his son Dennis through his daughter Frances Rebecca who married Samuel Hiram kellogg through his son Samuel II though his son John Ewan through his daughter Beverly Joyce to Tina.
Have not been able to find any ancestors beyond Dennis b 1710. Have you?
