Several years ago, using the deed description in the "Five Flags" book we found the 1,100 acres the original L. immigrants purchased from Lord Fairfax in 1747.It is near Stanley, VA and we stayed in a great inn called "Jordan Hollow Inn" which I believe to be on that original tract.
It was strangely exciting to stay on the land our ancestors owned 250 years ago.(The adjoining landowner is the same family as referenced in the deed!)
Our great-grandfather was Andrew from Parke Co., Ind. and we have a photo made about 1892-3 at West Union, IN with all of Andrew's children from his 2 wives present, including my great-grandfather Samuel C.
My grandfather, Clarence A has his feet showing in the photo as he sits in a second story window since the children were told to stay out of the way of the photographer. I also have an obit of Andrew, which I can transcribe if anyone is interest.I am most anxious to find Linebarger family in Parke Co., Ind. as I understand the "Linebarger Chapel" is still in use. Please connect if you have info and time~!
