Hi Chris,
Well, the best way to start out is simply talk to your relatives and start filling out a
pedigree chart with names, births, marriages, and deaths.From there you will want
to fill out a family group chart for each family group that lists the children and their
births, etc.
I would strongly suggest seeking out a good intro book on genealogy.Personally I
really like this one:
Unpuzzling Your Past: A Basic Guide to Tracking Your Family's Genealogy, by Emily
Anne Croom (4th ed., Betterway Publications, 2001)
It is an excellent beginner's guide with enough detail to keep you busy locating new
sources for many years.
