Dolores:
I have a copy of the marriage license of my Sarah Imel and John Calvin Rea md. 1874in Jefferson Co. IN by Robert Imel.George Washington Rea, John's brother, married Wm. Henry Imel's daughter, Sarah Imel, (another cousin?) the same year, 1878.John and Sarah's first son, Willard was born in 1876 in Jefferson Co. IN.
This all has been a big puzzle to me. Sarah probably died shortly after moving to Kansas in 1878.John Rea came home to Jefferson Co., IN and married Cora Vaughn within months of Sarah's death in 1878 in Madison, IN.For a while, Sarah's newborn, Simpson Rea, was nursed by Ed Rea's mom who was also nursing Ed Rea at the time. Simpson Rea was born on Jan. 1, 1878.I was given this information by John Rea's grandaughter, Simpson Rea's daughter, Sarah Rea Castner.
Yes, I have copies of the book from the Madison Co. Library.Janice Barnes, head of the genealogy department, has been just as puzzled as I have been concerning this particular Sarah. As I said, this is the only Sarah Imel unaccounted for, (that is listed in the 1860 Jefferson Co. IN census; she is 12 years old). The others we've matched up in the book. But seemingly there is no reference to this Sarah.HELP!
