Could you possibly direct me to someone who might clarify for me the Scottish origin of the Little family of Union County, SC?I am descended from Jonas Little (c.1750-1821), Revolutionary soldier, whose widow Rebecca married as her second husband in 1823, William Wilbourn.(I also have this Wilbourn line, but not from William; my line is from his brother Ezekiel.)My descent from this Jonas Little is through his son Thomas Little (born 1774-84, died 1821, the same year as his father), also of Union County, SC, and his wife Nancy. The children of Thomas Little scattered to the winds in several Southern states; I am from his son Zabud Little (c.1806-1851) who came to Henry County, GA, about 1825 and in 1827 married Dorothy Wilbourn/Welborn, daughter of Ezekiel and Margaret (Stribling) Wilbourn/Welborn of Wilkes County, GA, and Union County, SC.
Is my Jonas Little a brother of your George Little of Union County? This has been my impression from postings on GenForum, but when I wrote the person who posted that, along with the Scottish birth of George Little, I had no reply, which led me to suppose there was no documentation for the posted statements. I would be most grateful for any clarification on my Jonas Little's relationship to George Little, and any information relative to the family's coming from Scotland and whether my Jonas was born in Scotland or in South Carolina. Thank you.
