Re: Longs, William Sr. b. 1755
I am also a direct descendant of the William Long's of Grayson County. I have had correspondence with Gary Long, Darren Long and Brian Lonon. We have all worked together at some point on this line and exchanged information.
My direct line from William Long b. 1755 is through his son, Samuel Long b. 1790;his son, Levi Morgan Long b. Abt 1818; his son, Floyd Levi Long b. Oct 1855; etc.
I have been working with yet another Long family researcher in trying to determine if this information is correct. We have been trying to confirm the info on the Margaret Lewis line, but have been unable to do so as of yet.
If you like, you may email me privately, and I can put you in touch with my contact with whom I've been working on this line.
I also have the pictures of the William Long home in Grayson Co., VA., which as said before, still stands in Long's Gap. As for specifics on the home...."The home was deeded by Noah Long, descendant of the original owner William Long, Sr., to his nephew Dodge Phipps, in the 1850's. The widow of Dodge Phipps stayed in the house until her death, around 1936. Succeeding owners of the house have been Breece Todd, Robert Gambill, Paul Cornett, and the present occupants, the Dr. Karl Kinble family, who moved to Grayson Co. in 1976." (Information from Mrs. Karl Kinble)
I can send you the photos of the home if you're interested. There is also a copy of a drawing of the home that was featured in a calendar of Grayson Co. homes in 1983.
