My Long family is English.Most of the families they intermarried with or are on records (land/church) with are all English descendants in that part of Maryland.

It's not uncommon for German immigrant families to have come into port in Philadelphia and then moved straight due West/Southwest into the Gettysburgh PA and Frederick MD area.Plus there's that small strip of Maryland that reaches in along the underside of PA almost to Pittsburgh. There's lots of area for a family to be stateline-jumping so that Benjamin happened to be born in MD but the family is mainly PA.

Only on one record of my family have I seen the name spelled Longue, but I seriously think this was a misspelling on the part of the writer... it appears Long everywhere else.
