Lynn,
I am originally from the Quincy, IL area but have been in Texas for 40 years. There is some indication that the name may have been LONGLETZ in Germany.Other spellings or misspellings include - LONGLERT, LONGLATZ & LONGLET. LONGLETT is an very uncommon name so I thought I would post all the information I had to help out that board. I live about 75 miles away from where your father, Herbert died in Lufkin, TX.Maybe you are in TX?

I am related thru Anna Marie ERDMAN who married John Michael LONGLETT, Rudolph LONGLETT's brother.Anna Marie's sister, Anna Gertrude ERDMAN is my great great grandmother and she married Henry William STOESZEL.These families generally all resided in Gilmer and Columbus Township in Adams Co., IL and came from Germany in about 1844 (Emanuel LONGLETT) 1852 (STOESZEL) and 1857 (ERDMAN).

Frederick Carl ZIMMERMAN was the first ZIMMERMAN I had come across in my searches.

If you need anything more let me know.Email direct is OK.
Thanks, Don
