Re: stewart andrew longstreet 1925-1990 canada

A relative gave me the following information:

John Longstreet came to Canada & settled in Erin Township, the area around Belfountain & Erin.He had a large family. one of his sons, Francis, homesteaded in Manitoba. In 1898 he married Isabella (Bella) Machan & they had a family of 15 children.Frank Longstreet was born April 5, 1872 in Brampton & died November 14, 1941 in MacGregor, Manitoba. A son, Jim Longstreet lived in Thornbury, Ont., also a brother John & cousins Frank, Harlem & Jim.The Surnames Ames & Stewart were connected, as he named 2 sons after these branches.

This person also stated: "Mrs. Frank Longstreet was my Grt.Aunt Bella, eldest sister of my maternal Grandfather - so all 15 of the Longstreet offspring are my mother's 1st cousins!"

P.S. My own Grandfather Eugene Orlo Longstreet b. 1872 in Norfolk County, Ont., married Mary Ellen Westbrook. They moved from Mt.Pleasant to Matheson, Northern Ontario. I have a very small photo of my Grandfather in Manitoba helping with the hay season. He went there for 7 yrs. consecutive.Was this a cousin he was helping?
My mother was Eugene Orlo's daughter.
