The Longstreet Dutch Ancestors

By Duke Wessel September 25, 2009 at 09:14:20

The family that came to be known as Longstreet arrived in the colonies when it was very young. Dirk Stoffelson married and had several children. The first mention of the name Langstraet, that came to be Longstreet, is found about 1695 when his son Stoffel Dirckson [Langstraet] married Maijka Laen [Lane], the daughter of Gijsbert Laen and Jannetje, the daighter of Adriaen Lambertson. Stoffel and Maijka were both first generation colony born children who raised eleven children, most of whom survived, in Monmoth County New Jersey. The family name has been spelled Longstreet since 1740.

The following is the Longstreet lineage prepared by John Rymes Longstreet.
