I have a couple of possibilities to you posting. First, I have inmy genealogy of the Longstreet family a John L. Longstreet b. abt. 1821 of Long Branch, New Jersey, d. Sept 9, 1902, m. abt 1841 Sarah. John L. was the son of William Morton Longstreet of Squan, NJ m. Lydia Hampton.Sources: (1)Info provided by John Longstreet Rhymes.(2)Freehold Transcript Obituaries 1906-1912, p.4
Second, and I believe a stronger possibility, is John Stoutenborough Longstreet, b.Dec 5, 1815, d. Dec 1, 1884 m. June 26, 1849 (2d) Sarah S. Hendrickson, b. Mar 28, 1826, d. Apr 25, 1889. I have 5 children listed: Jane Ann, Elizabeth S., Harriet E., and Garret D. H., but they were probably more. I believe that your Francis may be a child of the first marriage to Eleanor Hendrickson b. May 20, 1824, d. Feb 28, 1844 in Marlboro, NJ. m. Oct. 19, 1843. So it is quite possible that your Francis
Longstreet, b. May 22, 1845, was born to another wife of John S. Longstreet between Eleanor's death in 1844 and his marriage to Sarah in 1849. I think it is quite likely since John Longstreet, (who m. Elizabeth Stoutenborough), the father of John S.
Longstreet, came to Niagara then Erin Twp. and then Caledon Twp., Peel Co. These are
the only two possibilities I have in my files on the Longstreet family. Clark Thornton
