Hi Anne, To start with, Thank you very much. I was not aware of Daniel's Civil War service. What complicates the matter is the fact that Daniel was married twice. his first marriage was to Calista Carter in Boston, MA on June 15, 1850. Daniel's birthdate is given as 1828, and his occupation is listed as physician throughout all the records. In the 1850 census from Lowell, MA taken a few months after this marriage we see Calista listed as living with D. D. Harmon. Looking at the image, it could have been easily misread by the transcriber. To me, it looks like Hanson. In the 1855 census from Lawrence, MA, we now see D. D. Hanson without Calista, but with a Clara M. age2, and William D. age 7. I believe these to be children from Daniels first marriage, as I have a marriage date of Dec. 4 1858 for Daniel and Cornelia. I believe the 1860 Census record stating that Clara and William were born in Conn. to be in Error. Although every record states that Daniel was born in Vermont, I cannot find a birth record for him. This is one of the records I'm searching for.
