1. I agree that there is some vagueness, and perhaps mystery, about the death and burial of Thomas Lord b 1585, and the facts may no longer be discernable.

2. Thomas Lord b 1585 was not a doctor. You are confusing him with his son Thomas Jr.

3. "Dr Thomas Lord was also married to a Dorothy Bulckley b.1589. I don't have anyother information on her at this time, also don't know if she was Thomas' first or second wife."

There is also another contributor who says "The son of Richard & Jeane Lord of County Townchester, Northampton, England, he married first Dorothy Buckley, daughter of Edward Buckley & sister of Rev. Peter Buckley. After her death, he married Dorothy Bird 23 Feb 1610 in Townschester ..." http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSsp=46613568&GRid=11290361&http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSsp=46613568&GRid=11290361&But I have yet to see or hear of any specific corroborating sources for this assertion.

4. Thomas Lord "is buried in the First Christian Church Cemetery, Hartford, CT" ........ While the individual grave is unknown and may be lost, I have seen the assertion before that Thomas Lord b 1585 is buried in a known cemetery in Hartford, and it may be accurate. Or maybe not. But it may or may not be this one.

This website http://www.rootsweb.com/~ctchartf/Hstone2.htmhttp://www.rootsweb.com/~ctchartf/Hstone2.htm says he is buried in "Center Cemetery" in Hartford with a headstone inscribed "Thomas Lord b 1585"

This website http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSsp=46613568&GRid=11290361&http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSsp=46613568&GRid=11290361& gives a picture of a memorial stone for him that looks like a headstone, and which is supposedly located at the "Ancient Burying Ground" in Hartford, but that may merely be a long-after-the-fact stone added. Notice that the stone is "in memory of..." which implies it is some descendant who in a later generation came and added it. That then leaves open whether anyone knows if he was actually buried there or not.

Meanwhile this page http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=lord&GSfn=thomas&GSbyrel=all&GSdyrel=all&GSst=8&GScntry=4&GSob=n&GRid=5125279&http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=lord&GSfn=thomas&GSbyrel=all&GSdyrel=all&GSst=8&GScntry=4&GSob=n&GRid=5125279& shows the same stone but a different location (Merriam Cemetery, Southington, Hartford County).

Where is the stone? And is it actually a grave marker? And is his cemetery known? Maybe someone in Hartford can clear it up.

5. As to the absence of a known will for Thomas Lord b 1585, it may have been filed/recorded in Hartford (or elsewhere), and then later the records got lost. Those things happened. Or the answer may be much more colorful, who knows?
