Thanks. Yes I looked through that resource (and quite a few others) in trying to identify any ID for William Stanton - Dorothy Lord, with no luck.At this point, I am ready for a clue to who they ARE, rather than seeing again where they don't fit.
I couldn't find a William Stanton in any of the Stanton genealogies (especially of Thomas, his kids, his grandkids) that would have died presumably in the 1670s and left a widow who was Dorothy Lord.
And I couldn't find a Dorothy Lord among the Thomas Lord kids or grandkids that would have been marrying W Stanton, seeing him die, then marrying Francis Lord in 1679 in VA.
The many other known ties between Stanton and Lord in that era would seem to infer this William Stanton-Dorothy Lord pair likely be somewhat closely related to those specific Stanton -Lord families. But who knows, this could all be people who first married in England - or any number of other Stantons and Lords on the east coast. I'm open to anything.
Or it could be a mistake in the records. Could it actually be Dorothy Stanton widow of William Lord, rather than Dorothy Lord widow of William Stanton? Who knows. I sure don't, but I'm hoping someone will be able to put the pieces together.
