Re: LORD - Mahanoy City, Schuylkill Co., PA
Here is someone else working on the same family: http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=becker111&id=P2761741344http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=becker111&id=P2761741344
The 1880 shows Henry Lord 18 as the son of James 56 and Susana 53 living in Mahoney City. The 1870 census is similar: Henry Lord 8 with James Lord 46 and Susan 50 in Blythe Twp. This time a Jesse Lord 78 and Susan 73 are listed immediately above them. The 1860 census is also lists Jessy and James next to each other again in Blythe Twp. The 1850 census shows them in the same township but not together. In the 1900 census James is listed as born Nov 1824 and Susannah March 1820. They were living in Mahoney City.
To confirm Henry's parentage I suggest getting his death certificate directly from the PA Div. of Vital Records. It may also list his mother's maiden name. If it doesn't then maybe one of his siblings death certificate will. Based on the census James and Susannah seem to have died between 1900 and 1910. If they died before 1906 their death records would have been recorded at the Schuylkill County Register of Wills but now in the Schuylkill County Archives. These records will usually only list place of birth, age at death, death date and burial place. If they died after 1905 their death certificates would be on record with the PA Div. of Vital Records. Death certificates generally list the parents' names, etc. The Schuylkill County Archives may have estate records for Jesse and James.
Check with the Schuylkill County Historical Society and Mahanoy Area Historical Society to see if they can help you. They may be able to find death dates for James and Susan and possibly church and cemetery records. Henry's obituary might list siblings if it doesn't also list parents.
