Thomas Lord of Hartford and the Maryland Lord family
In the past I have been of the opinion that there was no genetic ydna link between the Thomas Lord of Hartford line and our Dorchester County, Maryland - Washington County, Georgia line. I knew there was not a ydna link with the ones that came in from Massachusetts. I also knew there was no genetic link with the John Taylor Lord line that came down from Virginia to northern Georgia and then further west. My opinion that there was no genetic connection with the Thomas of Hartford line was based on my communication with one person tested on ancestry.com purportedly related to Thomas Lord whose y results didnt match the Washington County Lord line. However it appears she only assumed that she was related to the Thomas Lord through circumstancial evidence. Her Lord ancestor was from New York as I recall. She may be correct in her assumption but maybe not.
I have taken the autosominal test on 23andme and have matches with 10 people who claim a link to the Thomas Lord of Hartford. Some have well detailed gedcoms to back it up. On some of these people I could be related on others lines as well since its an autosominal test but the fact that there are so many matches makes me rethink the of the Thomas Lord of Hartford possibility.
Does anyone know for sure about a ydna test for the Thomas Lord of Hartford? This should be someone pretty certain they are directly decended. If there is noone then encouragement should be given for one of the males to take the ydna test to help solve the mystery once and for all. The 25 marker ydna test is not that expensive anymore and it could finally lay the issue to rest as to who the Thomas Lord line is connected to.
