This is the John that is supposed to be the son of Jeremiah. Does the above mean he died in 1781? In the Loughry book it says this John fought in the Fifth Pennsylvania line.
Then I found a John Lockry who fought in the Rev War in Virginia,

So, I believe that these are two different John Lockry/Loughry etc that fought in the war that could be related to the Loughrys that settled in Va. now WVa. If the DAR patriot index shows the one John as dying in 1781, then he can't be the one that gave birth to William Loughry in 1785. My theory is that John Loughry b. 1737 might be the father of a John Loughry b. abt. 1758, this John might be the one that fought in Va. and his wife might be the Mary Lockry listed on a tax list from Randolph Co. in 1802 that shows her as a widow with son William. My theory is that John, and Patrick - two brothers came to Va. from Pa. to live. They probably had another brother Daniel ( I believe this Daniel could have been married twice, once to a Lettice, second to Mary Wickam) There was a James Loughrey/Louchery who lived in Harrison Co. Va. he is buried in Clarksburg - he was born in 1787 and married a Margaret Keefore. He couldn't be a son of John b. 1737 - if he died in 1781 according to the DAR patriot index. I don't believe he could be a son of the younger Johneither, I say this because this James was born two years after William b. 1785, however he is not living in the household of Mary Lockry on that tax list in 1802 - only William is living there. Perhaps this James is a son of John b. 1737 brother James? Just a theory. The James that lived in Harrison co. Va. had a son Daniel Carson Loughry who is mentioned in the Jewitt book on the Loughrys - she seems to link him to the Loughrys of Pa. this could explain a few things to me - however it is a lot speculation. I also believe that Patrick Loughry was born before 1770 as is mentioned in the Stephens book - I say this cause the 1810 Harrison co. Va. census indicates he was born by 1765. I sure have a lot of questions about this family!! Also a Phillip Lockry married in Winchester Va. at the same place as Patrick and Daniel in 1797, who was he?? could he be another son of the John b. 1737? This Phillip Lockry moved to Ohio and is going by the last name of Lochery on the Guernsey Co. census in 1810. A lot of questions, wouldn't you like to time travel and see just what is what!!
