Gary, We've discussed this off line, but to insure accurate information prevails...: 1. The cemetery reference is indeed for James Francis Lowthorp, son of Churchwell and Nancy Lowthorp, but the birth date should be 1849 (or 1850) not 1859.I don't question the date of death. In the 1850 census of Union County NC, James F. is listed in Churchwell's household as a few months old.
2. William and Ellis or Elias are sons of Joseph Ervin and Lavina (Elizabeth Austin) Lowthorp, Churchwell's brother.Thomas B. is Churchwell's son.All three died in the War.Burrell/Burwell was the younger brother of Churchwell and Joseph Ervin, born in about 1820 so he was around 40 when the war began. He enlisted, but did not serve very much due to illness, as I recall. He survived the War and removed to Iredell County near Joseph and Lavina after the War.His wife, Druscilla Lizenby died in about 1858.
3. Louisa, Churchwell's daughter married Henry Traywick.Louisa died around 1859 and Henry about 1867.Lucy was apparently Churchwell's wife after Nancy's death sometime in the 1850s.She is several years older than Churchwell and shows up living in the household of William Allen in the 1870 census.I have not found Churchwell in any 1870 census, so it's assumed that he died after 1867 and before 1870, although no proof has been discovered to date.
