Greetings:
No, I now of no Loyd-Kent connection/s:
It is my hunch that this Henry LOYD is really a FLOYD.
The basis for my suspiscion is as follows:
I descend from a Morris FLOYD.The line that I'm on passes through a grandson, Morris, who left a will in NorthamptonCoNC in 1791/2 in which he named his children.
The third, or fourth-named heir was Andrew. The first-named heir was Thomas, through whom my line of descent passes.
Everyone, but me, says that Andrew FLOYD was the Andrew who came into SC via TyronCoNC and settled/died in YorkCoSC.I don't buy it for several reasons. Here are two:Firstly, he filed for a Revolutionary Soldier's Pension, whereas none of the other sons of Morris FLOYD did that;Secondly, in his pension application he stated that he was born in Frederick County in the year 1750.
Since Thomas was the first-named child in his father's will, he must have been the eldest.Thomas FLOYD was born either in 1755, or 1763, depending on whether one relies on the 1800 FedCenSC, or the 1850 FedCenMS.Whichever one is used, it doesn't "fit" that the third, or fourth-named child, Andrew, could have been born is 1750.
Furthermore,A check of the Library of Virginia's on-line Patent/Deed file and other references has yet to turn up any record of a FLOYD having been anywhere in or about the northern Shenandoah Valley.....except for Henry LOYD and his two sons.
There were HITES in that region. One, I tracked to South Carolina where he witnessed several deeds. The documents that he witnessed were contemporaneous to the arrival of this Andrew FLOYD who is said to be the son, Andrew, named in Morris FLOYD's North Carolina will.
So either
Henry LOYD is a LOYD and Andrew FLOYD is a LOYD
or
Henry LOYD is a FLOYD and Andrew FLOYD is a FLOYD.
I suspect it the latter is the case, for the above and other reasons to involved to explain here.
