Re: Ancestors from Quebec
I have a Jean-Baptiste Loyer who was married to Mary/Marie Yeston/Hewston/Hewson and had (at least) the following children:
Marie (bapt 3/24/1888, Clarenceville)Godfather: Joseph Philbert, godmother: Edowire, sister of Marie
Edowire (birthdate unknown, but must have been older than ten years in 1888 to be godmother).
George (bapt. 11/17/1890, Clarenceville) Godfather:Joseph Loyer of Alburghh, VT, Godmother: Elizabeth Loyer, sister of George
Elizabeth (birthdate unknown, but must have been older than ten years in 1890 to be godmother).
Arthur (bapt. 3/19/1893, Clarenceville) Godfather: Jean-Baptiste Perrault, Godmother:Celeste Breault, sp. of Cyprian Tremblay
Henriette (bapt. 10/22/1885) Godfather: Jean Baptiste Loyer (grandpere), godmother:Henriette Loyer (aunt)
I believe that the grandfather, Jean-Baptiste Loyer was the spouse of (1)Marie Roussel and (2) Marie Chalifoux, but this needs to be confirmed. If this is the case, I believe that the aunt, Henriette, is the spouse of Thomas Hewson. The couple were married in Lacolle in 1860.
Jean-Baptiste Loyer (Logue) was listed in the 1851 census with wife Marie (prob Chalifoux) and children Thomas (b. 1841, St. Pie) and Jean-Baptiste(b. 1845, St. Pie), Joseph (b. abt 1822 Beloeil) with wife Judith (Champagne) and son Joseph Jr. (b. 1850), Henriette (b. abt 1835, Beloeil) and George and Celina (Loyer) Thibault.
I am still trying to find where Jean-Baptiste, Jr. married and where his older children were baptized.I think that Joseph of Alburgh is Jean-Baptiste's half brother, but I need more confirmation.
According to the 1851, Jean-Baptiste Loyer Sr. was born in L'Assomption circa 1803 as was wife Marie.I could find no records of Joseph, Celina or Henriette in Beloeil.Jean-Baptiste Loyer, spouse of Marie Chalifoux, died in Clarenceville and was buried 6/6/1898.
