Reuben's daughter, Ella Louise Lucas, was my great-grandmother. My grandmother, Elsie Ward, was her daughter. My mother researched the Lucas family through Eli and speculated that his father was Charles. She had no information on Martha Barker.

When I was a child, I called Ella Louise "Woman" and her husband, Josiah Perkins Ward, "Man". Since they were the oldest people I knew, I figured they had to be the originals. Josiah thought that was quite funny and told everyone, whereas Ella was a bit more reserved.
