Loree Lucas, Colonial Heights, died Saturday evening, August
24, 2013, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center,
Kingsport, Sullivan Co TN.
She lived in the Kingsport area all her life. She was an active
and loyal member of the Colonial Heights United Methodist
Church since 1958. In addition to being a loving homemaker,
Loree established Colonial Interiors, an enterprise which she
operated successfully for over 45 years, an accomplishment
which clearly demonstrated her courage and fortitude.
Loree was probably most lovingly remembered by parents and
children as a kindergarten teacher at Colonial Heights
Presbyterian Church for many years.
For many years, she was a dedicated elections worker in the
Colonial Heights precinct, a civic duty in which she took great
Loree was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Paul
Davidson; and a sister, Geneva Steadman.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Lucas, Colonial Heights;
sons, Tommy Paul Lucas and wife Gwen, Knoxville, TN, and
Jonathan Scott Lucas and wife Paula, Nashville, TN; two
grandchildren, Jonathan Paul Lucas and Austin Scott Lucas;
sister, Betty Harris, Memphis, TN; brothers, Bob Davidson,
Kingsport, TN, and Harry Davidson, Charlotte, NC; and several
nieces and nephews, including Suzanne Harris Jackson,
Jennifer Harris, Lisa Davidson Hencherick, and Angela
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 27, 2013,
from 12 noon to 2 p.m., at Colonial Heights United Methodist
Church. The service will follow at 2 p.m., with Rev. Robert
The graveside service will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Austin Lucas and Jonathan
Lucas; nephews, Jeff Steadman, Mark Steadman, and Joe
Steadman, and her niece’s husband, Wesley Jackson. Honorary
Pallbearers will be neighbors, Gary Hubble and Jay Taylor,
brother-in-law, Bob Steadman, church members, Owen Way,
Gerald Gilbert, and Jim Hall, and family friends, J. Craft Akard
and Randall Chase.
