Re: Lumley family tree
I have no connection to Lumley's that I know of but while trying to learn all I could about Cary's Rebellion of 1711 I ran across a letter Gov Edward hyde wrote to the Lords Proprietors of Carolina.
You can read it at:
His opinion was that Cary and his followers were all 'villians' and criminals of the worst sort. The rebellion seems to be more colonial politics over Quakers already established in and around Bath County, N. C. and the proprietors representatives wanting to supress them and establish the Angelican Church of England.Anyway a George Lumley is listed in the 2nd paragraph as being allied with Cary.I noted that you mention a George Lumley in N. C. in Sept 1719 so guess he came out all right in the mini war as did Cary who was sent to England for trial as a traitor but never tried.
I thought it might be of interest to add to your genealogy.
