Re: Walter Evans Lumpkin of Jasper County, Georgia
Hello Sandra, did you ever determine the names of the parents of your Walter Evans Lumpkin.I have quite a bit of information on the Lumpkins of Jasper Co. VA.Walter seems to be involved at least with Harrison Lumpkin who is supposedly the son of Druscilla Hendrick and Robert Lumpkin supposedly the son of Mary Cody and Captain George Lumpkin.
On the 1830 census Jasper Co. GA which I am sure you must have, Harrison Lumpkin is listed as6o 70 to years old being born about 1860-70 and married Rhody Ferguson in Pittsylvania Co. VA 28 January 1792.Whomever sent this information to me did not enumerate on which page the various Lumpkins were written.Polly Lumpkin with two females 50 to 60 years old and Walter Lumpkin with eldest male 40 to 50.
On the 1840 census Jasper Co.GA, Rhody and Elizabeth Lumpkin are enumerated with one female 40-50 and another 70 to 80.If Rhoda and Harrison were married in 1792 and if the age on the census is correct, then she would have to be the female 70 to 80 because if she were born 1790-1800 she would have been too young to be married in 1792.
Walter is enumerated on page 73 and I have in my notes on same page as Rhoda and Elizbeth but cannot find where I obtained this information so am not stating this as a fact. Do you know?Anyway Walter is enumerated with one male 15-20 and one male 50-60 with one female under 5, 3 females 15-20, one female 20-30, one female 50-60 and one female 70-80.
Since Walter Lumpkin was granted Letters of Administration on the estate of Mary Lumpkin [also known as Polly LUmpkin] September 1847, would speculate that this was possibly his mother.
Would very much like to know if you have found out anything new on this family?Thank you,Carol J. McCraw
