LUNNEY - BALFOUR, Antrim, Ire > Toronto, Canada 1887
Can anyone relate to this LUNNEY family
Thanks to cousin Penny we have recently obtained their marriage information as:
Marriage solemnized at St Stephens Free? Church in the Parish of St. Stephen in the Co. Antrim 29/8/1885
John Balfour 31 bachelor labourer 3 ? St.
-father is James Balfour, policeman
Ellen Lunney 25 spinster none 20 Distillery
-father is Hugh Lunney, clerk
In the presence of Robert James Robinson and Maggie Coulter
Apparently Ellen Lunney’s father had a Dry Goods Store in Belfast. Could it have been at 20 Distillery Street? Does anyone have a City Directory that shows a LUNNEY / LUNNY family on that street in the 1880’s
Ellen may have also been known as Eleanor
We also believe that this might be the same John Balfour. Can anyone confirm?
21-yr old John Balfour, whose native County was Galway/Belfast (connected in Fermanagh) entered the Royal Irish Constabulary in 1875 and was a constable for two years.
