" The John Peter Luther, family property is now owned by the sole surviving son of Claude Martin McElrath. John Veach McElrathb.10/26/1959 who still lives on the property, in a house built for his Grandmother, Bertha Luther McElrath, less than 30 feet from where John Peter "Pete" Luther's ( His Great-Great Grandfather) original log cabin once stood, on the very end of Pete Luther Rd. The rock wall in front of the house supports a large boulder that, John Hutsell Luther, son of John Peter Luther, carved his initials in when he had a premonition that, he would not make it home from the war. The year he carved the boulder was 1862, his premonition was right, he died in Atlanta July 5th, 1864."
