Re: M A Lykins: Buchanan Co., Missouri 1889-91
Janice, I would be interested in what other information you have on this family. There may be a match. My Lykins family starts with Wm. & Eleanor born about 1805, some say Va. & some Tenn. for Wm. They left Kentucky in the middle 1850's and were in Platte Co. (Green Twp.) in census of 1860, by 1870 they are found with a Weston, MO. address. Their daughter Mary Ann married a Mr. King and 2nd married Thomas Adams in Mt. Vernon, KY. in 1858. The Adams family move to Platte Co. about 1865. We believe a younger sister to Mary Ann, Amanda married Asher King and live on the Atchison Rd. ( I believe hwy 59) south of St. Joe and died in 1915 and is burried at Toas. The Lykins sons were James, William,John & George. Your M A could have been one of their sons.
It is posible that M could have been W in bad writing. I did not find this family in the census, where did they go? Do you know the names of their children?
The only Vanhoozer I knew was Virginia who was in the class of 1947 with my brother at DeKalb. As you may know the Lykins name has been Likens & Lickens also. Bob Henderson
