Janice, sorry we didn't find a connection, but I will keep this couple in mind as I look. I did find the Death Certificates for Benjamin VanHoozer & his wife and see that they are at Westlawn in DeKalb. He was a blacksmith and I believe I remember his shop on the north side of the street just west of the square.
I is very hard to find some of the old graves. I have looked for my g-grand parents Henderson and 3 of their children in Leavenworth Co., Ks. for 15 years. I guess just in a small farm cemetery. Try Sugar creek cem. at Rushville, some Thomas there.
My mother's Sampson & Underwood famalies came to Bloomington twp. in 1838. Hope you are in that area so it is easier to look. Good luck. Bob
