Here is the information I got from the Lyles site:(SEE BELOW)
But I don't know for sure. I am not of the Lyles line. I am of the Pitts line. A nephew of my gggrandfather married Caroline Broom/Lyles.We do not have the Lyles in our family history but as a footnote listing Caroline as being first married to William B. Lyles, And that William and Caroline children were listed as PITTS in all the census.
I was just wanting the Lyles to know that the Henry Martin Pitts in "Orr Rifle" was the UNCLE...NOT the Nephew...And the Nephew that married Caroline (Boom/Lyles) was in the
2nd South Carolina Rifles,Company A and NOT "ORR RIFLES
Hope you find out if we are talking about the same William Lyles. Please e-mail me if you find that WILLIAM B. LYLES WAS NOT IN THE Company C, 2nd South Carolina Rifles.
If you are like me, you want the right history in your records.
Please know if you have any questions I would love to hear from you......
