knighted 1829; m. 1819 to Jane, the third dau of Rev. W. Learmont of Luce Abbey; Rev. Learmont d. 1822, aged 80 at Old Luce.
Jean Learmont was the dau of Rev. William Learmont and Sarah Adair; bapt 16 Apr. 1794 at Old Luce; another sister Sarah Learmont was bapt. 23 Aug. 1795 at Old Luce, Wigtownshire.

Bro-in-law, John Hannah (Hannay?)--Baillie James Hannay, d. 1806 was married to Premrose Adair who died 1787, aged 58.
Will: I bequeath to my nieces Sarah Adair, m. to Rev. Learmont L 1,500, Joan Adair, L l,500, and Mary Adair, L 1,500.
William Anderson of Bayhead was a brother of Sir James's; his dau married into the Macaulay family of Crumlin and Larne.
