Hi Steve,
The original spelling of this name eludes me, but our immigrants came to
America in 1744 on the Phoenix .I haven't worked them in Europe yet, so I
can't say where exactly they were from.But they were German speaking, and
I suspect that they were Swiss.On Strassburger's list the immigrants were
"Joha Pilib Magmer" and "Johannes (II) Magemer".
The various spellings are all phonetic representations and Mochamer is
pronounced just like Machamer.Working this family requires a vivid
imagination when searching through all the variations!
