Henry F. Maciejewski, 81, Catawissa R.R.2, died at 7:50 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, 1997, at the Penn State Geisinger Health System after a short illness.
He was a resident of rural Catawissa for 48 years.
Born in Shamokin, July 5, 1916, he was the son of the late John Sr. and Anna Grzybek Maciejewski and the stepson of the late Catherine Dzikowski Maciefewski.
He worked as a maintenance man for H.H. Knoebel Sons until his retirement in 1985.
He attended Shamokin schools and the Wynns School, Catawissa R.R.
He was a member of Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church, Elysburg.
Maciefewski was a charter member of the Catawissa VFW and a member of the Valley Gun and Country Club, Elysburg.
He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman.
He served in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific theater.
Surviving are his wife, the former Martha G. Kopitsky, to whom he was married for 51 years; two children: Mrs. Donald (Rose Ann) Whitenight and Richard Maciejewski, both of Catawissa R.R.2; two grandchildren; three brothers, Andrew and Raymond both of Catawissa R.R.2 and Frank, Danville and a sister, Agnes Nebrotski, Danville.
Three brothers, John Jr.; Anthony and Joseph and two sisters, Anna and Rose died previously.
Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church, Elysburg, with the Rev. Charles R. Slough as celebrant. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Bear Gap.
