Neil,

Would your Mackey's have an Alexander Mackey (b:1791 - d:1842) that married a Sarah "Sally" Golden/Golding ?

She was daughter of Richard Golden/Golding who was born in County Tyron, Ireland around 1740/45. Richard was in Wilkes Co., GA in 1786 but left GA and lived in TN and KY.He had several other older children, one a Stephen Golding, b:1766/Wilkes Co., GA, who married a Hannah Helms and lived in Claiborn Co., TN and Knox Co., KY.It is possible that Richard moved through SC and back to NC before he went to TN or KY.I believe he is of the John Golding/Golden family VA and NC before they moved to GA.

I found this in the SC Archives in line:
