MACKINSON vs. MAKINSON

By Linda Asaro April 23, 2003 at 12:53:16

Am looking for info on my g-g-grandather, John.He is listed often as Mackinson.Sometimes as Makinson.

He was born in Delaware in 1820.The town may be in Maryland now.His parents came from England, but I don't know when.John ended up in Jackson County,Ohio. He married Mary Butcher had about 8 kids.

4 of them were boys:John, James, William & Thomas. All have been listed as both Mackinson and Makinson at one time or another. They were born in the 1840's and 1850's.

Any info at all would be very much appreciated.I am from Thomas's line.My family mostly goes by Makinson. We're not sure if the 'c' was removed over time or added in.

Thank you!
Linda
