McLennan Otago & Southland, New Zealand
I am a grand-daughter of Duncan McLennan, son of Murdoch and Margaret (nee Thomson) McLennan. Murdoch's father was also named Duncan McLennan, however, I never knew his mother's name and it does not appear on his death certificate.
Murdoch immigrated to New Zealand approx 1882, whereas, Margaret was born in Outram, West Tairei, NZ, in approx 1860, to John and Margaret, (nee Stoddart) McLennan. Murdoch was a Shepherd, and was well known for his 'dog trialing' skills throughout the province's of Southland and Otago.
Murdoch and Margaret had six children:Duncan, John, James, Margaret, Jean and Kate.
I would like to contact other family members and hopefully learn more of our ancestory, both here in NZ and back in Scotland. I have tried, with no success, to source which ships Murdoch McLennan, John Thomson and Margaret Stoddart, came to NZ on.
To the best of my knowledge, Murdoch came from the town, 'Inverness', in 'Ross-shire', and would have been approximately 22 years old when he immigrated.
I would be interested in hearing from anyone with links to, or information regarding my family.
Regards
Marlene
